Generally, any foreign citizen who desires to travel to Thailand is required to get a visa from the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate General. However, exemptions apply to those from most Asian and Western countries, including the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, France, Greece, New Zealand, Spain, South Africa, and Japan, among others. Therefore, for UK citizens, they will be allowed entry to the country given that they possess a passport that is valid for at least six months. They will then be allowed to stay in the country for a maximum of 30 days per visit if they travel by air and 15 days if they enter by land. Those who are allowed entry to the country without a visa can re-enter and stay for an accumulated duration of not more than 90 days within a six-month period from the date of the first entry. Aside from that, foreigners travelling to Thailand on a visa exempt category must have adequate finances during their holiday in the country. Other requirements include a recent photograph of the applicant, evidence of travel, and other documents that may be requested by the consular officers.
